What’s in a Cruise Quote
| Line item | What it is | Usually included? |
|---|---|---|
| Cruise fare | Your cabin, main meals, most entertainment and the ship’s facilities | Yes |
| Taxes, fees & port expenses | Government taxes and port charges; can be several hundred dollars per person | Should be shown — check it is |
| Gratuities / service charges | A daily per-person charge on most mainstream lines | Often not; included on most luxury lines |
| Travel insurance | Cancellation, medical and evacuation cover | Optional — but strongly recommended |
| Flights, hotels, transfers | Getting to and from the ship | Only in air-inclusive or package fares |
| Drinks, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, excursions | Onboard extras | Only in all-inclusive fares or promotions |
Fares are quoted per person, based on two people sharing a cabin. Third and fourth guests in the same cabin usually pay much less; solo travelers usually pay a supplement.
Fare Types
Refundable deposit fares
Higher price, but you can cancel before final payment and get your deposit back.
Non-refundable deposit fares
Cheaper, but the deposit is lost (or kept as a future credit) if you cancel.
Promotional or “bundle” fares
Include perks such as drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities or onboard credit — valuable only if you would buy them anyway.
Guarantee cabins
You are guaranteed a category or better, but the line assigns the cabin. Cheaper, less choice.
How a Quote Request Works
- You share your destination, dates, cabin preference, travelers and budget.
- Specialists check fares, promotions and cabin availability across the lines that fit.
- You get quotes showing the total price and what it includes.
- You ask questions, compare, and book only if you want to. Deposits are paid to the cruise line.
